ONE wrongfully imprisoned is too many. Injustice Served Wrongful Conviction Advocacy is a non-profit venture established in 2007 for the purpose of raising awareness of wrongful convictions in the United States. This site features articles, case summaries, and resources for those interested about learning more about wrongful convictions. The justice system as a whole in the United States is ailing. Advancements in forensic technology have not slowed the rate at which innocent people are being imprisoned for crimes they did not commit. Police investigators frequently mishandle evidence and poorly process crime scenes, either destroying, compromising, or ignoring vital forensic evidence. Shoddy police work is handing already botched cases over to a broken, overburdened judicial system where prosecutors care more about "winning" convictions than ensuring the right person pays for the crime. Public defenders are often inexperienced or incompetent, overworked, and ill-prepared; in most cases a single public defender is pitted against two seasoned assistant prosecutors who have unlimited resources and employ the services of many expert witnesses. It's no wonder there are so many innocent people behind bars. Why should you care about wrongful convictions? Because it could happen to anyone – your son, daughter, brother, husband, father. It takes little more than for someone to be in the wrong place at the wrong time; or for someone dishonest enough to willfully commit perjury to accuse them of some heinous crime. In November of 2007, Injustice Served Wrongful Conviction Advocacy launch its official CafePress Shop featuring custom merchandise; proceeds of the sale of all items from the Injustice Served CafePress Shop are donated to the defense funds of factually innocent, wrongfully convicted people who need your help to regain their stolen freedom. Check out our store by visiting cafepress.com/injusticeserved. Injustice Served also operates the Free Byron Case CafePress Shop, with proceeds directly benefiting the Byron Case Wrongful Conviction Defense Fund. · MySpace NEW! From Injustice Served on CafePress! In addition to standing up against womens rights in Roe v. Wade, filed in Dallas County in 1970 and decided by the Supreme Court in 1973, former District Attorney Henry Wade was responsible for imprisoning an unknowable number of innocent people. After his death, proof was uncovered that Wade and his associates had, in many cases, intentionally overlooked or withheld evidence from the defense and jury. Henry Wade was a criminal; here's your opportunity to show the world what you think of him. All proceeds from the Injustice Served CafePress Shop are donated to the defense funds of wrongfully convicted people who need your help to regain their stolen freedom. |
